The No. 34 NC State women’s team will make the short trip to Durham, N.C. to participate in the first & second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack will face No. 24 William & Mary on Friday afternoon at 1p.m. in the first round. The red and white finished the regular season 13-10 while the Tribe went 17-8 on the year.
This is the second time that the two schools have met in the first round in the past three years. In 2006 the Wolfpack defeated the Tribe, 4-3, to secure the first ever NCAA Tournament victory in school history.
The Wolfpack have now made the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons under head coach Hans Olsen. Before Olsen came to NC State the Wolfpack had only made the tournament once (1998) in school history.
William & Mary is making their eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and their 17th in school history. This season marked the 20th time they have won the CAA conference title in their 23 years in the league. Megan Moulton-Levy is ranked No. 12 nationally in singles for the Tribe while Ragini Acharya is ranked No. 119. Moulton-Levy also teams with Katarina Zoricic to form the No. 10 doubles tandem and Zoricic is ranked No. 38 in doubles with Acharya.
The winner of the match will play on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. against No. 9 Duke or Temple.
