Three NCAA Marks Pace Men's Track & Field

Chris Kollar and Gavin Coombs hit NCAA Regional qualifying marks in the 1,500m and Jason Jones did the same in the shot put as the three athletes led the charge at the UNC Elite Meet on Saturday in Chapel Hill. A'Tolani Akinkuotu finished sixth in the finals of the 100m on Saturday in Atlanta, Ga., at the Georgia Tech Invite, turing in a 10.64, to lead the split squad at the meet.
Kollar ran a 3:46.51 to finish first, the fastest time on the team and fifth fastest in the ACC, for his first regional mark of the season.
Coombs finished second in the same race with a time of 3:47.24, his first NCAA mark in the 1,500 and third overall (two in the steeplechase).
Jones picked up his seventh NCAA mark in the shot put with a throw of 57'09.00", his second farthest distance of the year.
In the 200m, Reggie Reese, who already has a NCAA Regional mark in the event in addition to the 100m, led the way for the Wolfpack with a 21.59 in Atlanta.
Also in Atlanta, high jumper Eric Davis matched his third best height on the season with a 6'06.75" to finish in the top-20.
Kevin Hutton posted a 54.52 in the 400m hurdles.
