RALEIGH, N.C. NC State women’s soccer coach Laura Kerrigan has announced the addition of three more high school seniors to enroll at NC State and play for the Wolfpack this fall.
Amanda Carr, Stephanie Horvath and Casey Kilburn are now included among a strong incoming freshmen class of 10 newcomers for NC State in 2008.
Carr, a native of Punta Gorda, Fla, is a four-year member of the Charlotte High School soccer program. She has been twice named Player of the Year by the Charlotte Sun newspaper.
In addition to soccer, she has also competed in cross county, golf, softball, track & field and weightlifting. She will graduate with a school-record 17 varsity letters.
And she is a world champion BMX racer that has competed professionally in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe. The 2012 Olympics in England is apparently a real possibility.
Carr’s club team is the Florida Premier and was included on the 2007 ODP Florida State Pool.
Horvath hails from Normal, Ill., and is an all-state performer at Normal West High School. The three-time Big 12 Conference member led her team to a 68-5-1 record and three conference championships.
She has also been selected first team All Inter-City three times by the Pantagraph newspaper and is a three-time member of the Big 12 Conference All-Academic Team.
Horvath plays club for the Kickers United Futbol Club Cosmos. She has been a key member of the team that has made three straight USCS Nationals appearances.
She also plays for the Chicago United Breeze of the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
Kilburn comes from the Wolfpack’s backyard in Raleigh and is currently finishing her fourth season on the soccer team at Broughton High School. She was a member of two 4A state titles during her freshman and sophomore years and was selected all-state as a sophomore in 2006.
She also becomes the fourth member of this 10-person class for the Wolfpack that played with the CASL Spartan Elite club team and played on the 2006 Region III Premier League Championship club.
Kilburn has been involved with the Olympic Development Program since 2005.
