
Softball To End Home Schedule Against Coastal Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State will play its final home contests of the year at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23, with two games against Coastal Carolina beginning at 4 p.m. Live stats for both affairs will be available via GoPack.com.
The Pack leads the all-time series between the two schools, 6-2. A year ago State beat the Chanticleers, 5-1, at the Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Wolfpack stands at 27-23 overall. Alyssa Allbritten leads the team in batting average (.343), doubles (17), RBIs (31), and slugging percentage (.671), while Shanna Smith stands first in hits (52), home runs (11), total bases (96), on-base percentage (.444) and stolen bases (24). Smith is just two stolen bags shy of the single-season school record, which she set with 26 as a sophomore in 2006.
Lindsay Campana (16-15, 2.01 ERA, 201.1 IP) and Mendy McKenzie (11-8, 2.45 ERA, 146.2 IP) continue to provide a solid one-two punch for the Pack in the circle. This past weekend at No. 15 North Carolina the duo limited one of the nation’s best statistical offenses to just eight hits across three games.
Coastal Carolina carries an 18-33 record into Tuesday’s action. Verity Long-Droppert leads the Chanticleers with a .327 clip at the plate, 48 hits, 25 runs 23 RBIS, 21 walks, nine doubles and five home runs. Laicole Walker has swiped bags on 17 of 18 tries, and Brittany Birnbaum has 25 sacrifice at-bats. Ashley Frederick and Ashley Pedersen have tossed the majority of Coastal's games. Frederick owns an 8-13 record with a 2.51 ERA in 134 innings, while Pedersen stands at 7-10 with a 2.76 ERA in 126.2 frames.
This weekend State will end its regular season with a three-game ACC set against Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. The Pack will take on the Seminoles for two games on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 2 p.m., before playing the closer on Sunday, April 27, at 12 noon.
