RALEIGH, N.C. NC State head volleyball coach Charita J. Stubbs announced the signing of three new student-athletes to the Wolfpack program on Thursday, April 17. Sommerlyn Ivory, Margaret Salata and Arlee Tamiatti will join the State program in time for the upcoming 2008 season. The three newcomers will come to Raleigh alongside Isis Gardner and Caelen Hiller, both of whom signed on this past December.

Ivory will enlist with the red and white after one season at Alvin Community College. Standing at 6-2, Ivory, out of League City, Texas, will function as a middle blocker. At ACC last year she was named first-team all-conference and was ranked seventh nationally in hitting percentage (.538) for NJCAA Division I. Ivory also racked up 268 kills.
Salata, out of Buffalo Grove, Ill., will come in as a true freshman at the middle blocker position. At 6-1, she has been competiting with the Sky High Volleyball Club. A graduate of Stevenson High School, Salata was a first-team Pioneer Press Lake Shore Volleyball selection as a senior, collecting 230 kills and 100 blocks.
Tamiatta transfers from Boise State after spending two years with the Broncos. A 6-0 native of Sahuarita, Ariz., she played in 121 games during her stint in Boise. In two seasons she amassed 368 kills, 141 digs, 88 blocks, 24 assists and 19 service aces. She will work as an opposite side in the Wolfpack’s system.
State will begin the 2008 season Aug.29-30 at the Virginia Commonwealth Tournament in Richmond, Va.
