No. 17 Gymnastics To Host Quad Meet

In NC State’s second to last home meet of the season, the Pack will host Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and William & Mary. The meet will take place on Sunday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in historic Reynolds Coliseum. The Pack’s 12-6 record has the team ranked at No. 17 in the nation. Tickets for the meet are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and are free for NC State students and children 17 and under.Live stats are available on the gymnastics schedule page.
The team swept all three individual EAGL Awards this week after a record-setting showing over the weekend. Taylor Seaman was named Gymnast of the Week, Brittney Hardiman was Rookie of the Week and Brittany Vontz earned Specialist of the Week.
Hardiman won Rookie of the Week for the fourth-time in the last five weeks, while Seaman and Vontz earned their first honors of the season. It was the first Gymnast of the Week award for Seaman in her career after winning four Rookie of the Week honors last season.
NC State is ranked in all four events, and has multiple gymnasts in the national rankings as well. The Pack is ranked 18th on both vault and bars, as well as 21st on beam, and 15th on floor. NC State is consistently improving on the vault, posting the third-best team score in school history at Penn with a 49.200. Sophomore Taylor Seaman’s career record-breaking performance at Penn last weekend in multiple events helped her to a national ranking of 13 on the floor. Freshman Brittney Hardiman, who took second in the all-around last weekend and set career-highs on beam and bars, is 27th on vault and 28th in the all-around nationally. Senior Leigha Hancock tied for first on beam at Penn along with Hardiman, and is now 24th in the nation in the event. The Pack is also first in every event in the EAGL.
Bowling Green holds a 5-5 record, and this is the first time the Pack and the Falcons will meet. Jacque Berhardt leads Bowling green on floor with a 9.775 last weekend, and on vault with a 9.800 in the last meet. Queenita Gamble is a strong performer on beam, scoring a 9.775 last weekend.
Central Michigan holds a 3-2 record over NC State, and earned its third win in 2003. The Chippewas are currently 3-10 on the season. The team scored a season high 194.075 last weekend, and Katie Simon posted the top all-around score with a 39.075. Jessica Neel and Cheryl Conlin are also top performers for Central Michigan, each scoring a 9.775 on beam.
The Pack took on William & Mary earlier this season at the Sweetheart Invite, and took the win, improving the series record to 37-7. The Tribe is 4-17 so far this season. William & Mary posted its best score on beam this season with a 48.000 in their last meet. Tricia Long scored a 37.725 last weekend in the all-around to lead the Tribe.
