Whittington Earns Two ACC Plaudits
NC State star forward Khadijah Whittington was named first team All-ACC on Monday and to the ACC All-Defensive team on Tuesday. Her and UNC's LaToya Pringle were the only two players named to the two respective teams. Whittington becomes the ninth different NC State player to earn first team honors in the ACC and first since Kaayla Chones in 2004.
Versatility at its Finest
Khadijah Whittington has an argument as the most versatile player in the country. During her senior campaign, she is currently the only player in the nation with at least 450 points, 300 rebounds, 70 steals and 40 blocks. Frankly no other player even comes close. Oklahoma star Courtney Paris is perhaps the closest as qualifies in three catergories, but comes up well short in steals.
Whittington Named to Naismith Candidates List
Senior forward Khadijah Whittington is among 31 candidates vying for the 2008 Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced. Whittington is among the ACC leaders in scoring, rebounding, steals, blocks and field goal percentage. The women’s list was voted on by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, comprised of leading basketball journalists, coaches and administrators.
