#17 Gymnastics Sweeps Weekly EAGL Honors

The NC State gymnastics team, ranked No. 17 nationally, swept all three individual EAGL Awards this week after a record-setting showing over the weekend. Taylor Seaman was named Gymnast of the Week, Brittney Hardiman was Rookie of the Week and Brittany Vontz earned Specialist of the Week. Hardiman won Rookie of the Week for the fourth-time in the last five weeks, while Seaman and Vontz earned their first honors of the season.
Seaman, a sophomore from Greensburg, Pa., set or tied four career-highs in a quad meet last Saturday. She won the all-around with a career-high of 39.450, which tied for the seventh-best mark in NC State history. Seaman also won floor (9.925), tying her career-high. She tied for first on bars (9.875) to set a career-high and won vault with a 9.875. Finally, she tied for third on beam (9.775). Seaman leads EAGL in the floor exercise and is second in bars and sixth in the all-around.
Hardiman, a freshman from Apopka, Fla., had a second-place all-around finish in the quad meet last weekend at UPenn with a career-high 39.225. She tied a career-high in vault (9.875) and set career- highs on beam (9.800) and bars (9.775). Also, Hardiman tied for first on vault and beam and leads EAGL in vault and is second in the all-around this season.
In a quad meet, Vontz set a career-high on the uneven bars with a 9.875. The freshman from Lincoln, Neb. tied for first on the event and it was her first event win. It also marked the fifth time in five attempts that she posted a 9.700 of higher on bars.
NC State returns to the gym this Sunday for a quad meet at 7 p.m.
