A year after winning the EAGL Championship, NC State gymnastics spent nearly the entire year leading the conference in overall score heading into the 2008 event. Unfortunately, a repeat title was not in the cards, despite an impressive 195.475, the second-highest score of the season for the Wolfpack. NC State head coach Mark Stevenson was named the 2008 EAGL Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season after the Red and White led the EAGL in regional qualifying score.
EAGL Championship host West Virginia scored a 196.050 to claim the overall team title.
Senior Leigha Hancock and sophomore Taylor Seaman both tied for first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.950. It was Seaman's career-high and the third time Hancock hit that mark overall, and second time this season.
Seaman was also third in the all-around, with a 39.250, her second-best score of the season.
Freshman Brittney Hardiman, the EAGL Rookie of the Year, finished fourth on vault with a 9.875. She led EAGL in the vault during the regular season.
NC State will now await a destination for NCAA Regionals, which begin on April 11th.
