No. 21 Gymnastics Ends Regular Season at New Hampshire

The No. 21 NC State gymnastics team will head to Durham, N.H. to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats in the Pack’s final regular season meet on Sat. March 22nd at 7 p.m. This is the final meet before the Wolfpack head to West Virginia to defend its 2007 EAGL Championship. NC State is currently 17-7 (4-2 EAGL) and the Wildcats are 13-9 (4-4 EAGL). The two teams last met in the 2007 EAGL Championships, and the Pack improved its series record over New Hampshire to 17-14.
Senior Leigha Hancock led the Pack last weekend in the final home quad meet of the season, helping NC State earn wins over North Carolina and George Washington. The Pack also fell to No. 5 LSU. Her performance, which earned Hancock her third EAGL Gymnast of the Week award, propelled her to No. 21 on floor and No. 29 on beam nationally. She also holds the top spot in the EAGL on floor, and is second on beam in the conference. Freshman Brittney Hardiman is currently 1st on vault in the EAGL, and 42nd nationally. She is also 3rd in the all-around in the conference, and 43rd nationally in the event.
The Pack is currently ranked in all four events as well. The team is 21st on vault, 20th on bars, 27th on beam, and 19th on floor. NC State also leads the conference in two of the four events as well as being first overall in the conference. The Pack is first on vault and floor, and second on bars and beam in the EAGL.
The Wildcats are currently 37th in the nation and are ranked 27th on vault. New Hampshire also holds a national ranking of 35 on the beam. In the EAGL, the Wildcats are 3rd on vault and 4th overall. The Wildcats are led by Helena Diodati who is 3rd on vault and 4th on bars in the conference. Other top performers for New Hampshire include Taryn LaFoutain who is 5th on beam in the EAGL, and Chelsea Steinberg who is 7th in the same event in the conference.
