Mattie Bethea Second in Heptathlon at 49er Classic

NC State's Mattie Bethea posted as second place showing in the heptahlon after four events with 2,864 points. The senior from Winston-Salem, N.C., was impressive after the first day of competition at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
Bethea won the high jump portion of the heptahlon and finished second in the shot put and 100m dash. She finished seventh in the 200m and trails the leader after four events by only six points.
Bethea will compete in the jong jump, javelin throw and 800m run in the coming days as the tournament continues through Saturday, March 22nd.
The rest of the men's and women's outdoor track and field team will compete over the weekend.
