Women's Soccer Program Welcomes Seven Signees

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State women’s soccer coach Laura Kerrigan announced that seven high school seniors signed on to play for the Wolfpack in 2008 as part of National Signing Day.
Kerrigan and her staff did very well in state by signing six North Carolinians that will wear the red and white this fall. Erika Markley (St. Peters, Pa.) joins Latanya Cain (Pinebluff), Stephanie Partenheimer (Apex), Paige Dugal (Garner), Kim Kern (Raleigh), Jordan Edwards (Charlotte) and Emily Bullard (Charlotte).
“We are extremely pleased with our 2008 class,” said Kerrigan, “We made a real push in state and are excited about the talent of these students.” Kerrigan continued on, “We believe that these players will help raise the level of our program. Dugal and Cain are both excellent forwards who can score from anywhere. Markley and Partenheimer are playmakers who control the game wherever they are on the field and Edwards and Bullard are very strong, athletic defenders who will help solidify our defense. Kern is a tremendous goal keeper who will challenge for a starting job in net.”
Players signed on first day of the National Letter of Intent period, in alphabetical order:
Emily Bullard (Covenant Day H.S.): Named to the 2007 North Carolina Coaches Association All-Regional Team...was the North Carolina 2A Player of the Year...selected to the North Carolina All-State team...also competed in cross country...excellent student that earned the Presidential Academic Achievement Award.
Latanya Cain (Pinecrest H.S.): Member of the Olympic Development Region III team...is part of the ODP region III player pool...selected to the North Carolina All-State team...was named to the North Carolina Coaches Association All-State team...competed in both soccer and basketball...named to the Academic Honor Roll.
Paige Dugal (Garner H.S): Member of the USL Super Y League South Atlantic ODP Team...also plays on the CASL Spartan Elite Club team that won the USYSA Region III East Premier League Championship, the NCYSA State Championship and the USL Super Y-League South Atlantic Championship...competes in soccer and basketball...also garnered recognition by the National Society of High School Scholars...earned the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and the Academic Achievement Award.
Jordan Edwards (Charlotte Christian H.S.): Competed at the Super Y-League National Camp...member of the Olympic Development Program Region III Pool...named to the North Carolina All-State team...three-sport Athlete that also competes in basketball and cross country...named on the Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll and is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society.
Kim Kern (Leesville Road H.S.): Member of the Olympic Development Program U-16 National Pool...competes on the ODP Regional III Team...named to the North Carolina All-State team...key member of the USL Super Y League National Team and the USL Super Y League South Atlantic ODP team...also plays for the CASL Spartan Elite Club team that were USYSA Region III East Premier League Champions, NCYSA State Champions and USL Super Y-League South Atlantic Champions...Honor Roll student.
Erika Markley (Owen J. Robert H.S.): Member of the Olympic Development Program National Pool...plays for the ODP Region I team...named to the Eastern Pennsylvania All-State and all-region teams....selected the co-MVP of the Pioneer Athletic Conference...was also tabbed to the Southeast Pennsylvania All-Area team.
Stephanie Partenheimer: (Apex H.S): Member of the the Olympic Development Program Region III Pool...competes for the USL Super Y South Atlantic ODP Region III Team...is a North Carolina All-State team member...Named to the Top Drawer Soccer “Players to Watch” list and to the American Kicker “Players to Watch List”...member of the CASL Spartan Elite Club Team that were USYSA Region III East Premier League Champions, NCYSA State Champions and USL Super Y-League South Atlantic Champions...National Honor Society member and is an Academic Honor Roll student.
