Jones Wins Shot Put; Akinkuotu Third in 55m Dash

Jason Jones started the 2009 track and field season the way he ended 2008 - with a win in the shot put. Jones recorded a throw of 51'11.25" to win the event at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open on December 6.
A'Tolani Akinkuotu won the prelims of the 55 meter dash and then finished third in the finals, posting a time of 6.31 in both races.
Adam Gray was second in the weight throw with a mark of 52'06.75" and Brandon Bias qualified for finals with a mark of 8.10 in the 55 meter hurdles, then finished 11th in the finals of the event.
