Volleyball Signs Burns for 2009

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State head volleyball coach Charita J. Stubbs announced the signing of Kelly Burns on Saturday, Nov. 29. A native of Jackson Hole, Wyo., Burns will join the team in time for the 2009 season. A senior at Jackson Hole High, she will play at the setter position.
“I am excited to have a dynamic athlete in Kelly Burns,” said Stubbs. “Her athletic abilities and natural feel for the game will make her a force in the ACC. She is a young lady that is used to working hard and traveling far for top-flight competition.”
A two-time all-state and three-time all-conference player, Burns is a Wendy’s High School Heisman state finalist. As a junior in 2007 she was third in the state for aces, and fourth in assists and assists per game. She has also competed with several club teams and was selected to attend the 2007 USAV Youth A-2 Development camp.
Aside from volleyball, Burns has been named all-state and all-conference in basketball. She has also swam the freestyle, 50- and 100-yard breaststroke events.
