Seminoles Defeat Volleyball

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State volleyball team fell in three games to Florida State on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Reynolds Coliseum. The loss sends the Pack to 9-24 (3-15 ACC) on the year, while the Seminoles climb to 20-8 (12-6 ACC).
Aiwane Iboaya led the Pack both offensively and defensively, posting team bests in kills (8) and blocks (5). Alex Smith put up 24 set assists, and Nikki Sweet secured seven digs.
Brianna Barry led FSU with 11 kills, while Ashlee Moon had 11 digs. Stephanie Neville recorded four total blocks, and Nikki Baker lifted 33 assists.
Florida State fought off two lead changes and six tied scores to take the opening set 25-18. State cut the lead to one late in play at 17-16, but the Seminoles collected eight of the following 10 points to move the action along.
Despite three tied scores Florida State never trailed in taking the second game, 25-19. The Pack did keep things close however, never trailing by more than six scores.
Both teams offered match-high hitting percentages in the third stanza, with State swinging at .143 and FSU belting a .435. The Seminoles 14 kills trumped the Pack’s nine though, as Florida State ended play with a 25-18 victory.
NC State will host Miami tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 21, in its final home match of the season. Action begins at 7 p.m. Live stats will be offered on GoPack.com, while ACC Select will provide live video streaming.
The match will also serve as senior night for lone State senior Aiwane Iboaya.
