Volleyball Falls at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. Duke shut out NC State volleyball, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct 4. The loss sends the Pack to 8-11 (2-2 ACC), while the Blue Devils move to 12-5 (3-2 ACC).
Aiwane Iboaya led State with seven kills, while Alex Smith recorded 20 assists. Kelly Wood had 11 digs.
Becci Burling and Rachael Moss both supplied nine kills for Duke, and Kellie Catanach hoisted 34 assists. Moss also secured 10 digs, while both Moss and Burling had five blocks.
The Pack lost both of the first two frames by the same score, 25-13. State hit just -.032 in the first stanza and .031 in the second, compared to the Blue Devils match-high .387 and .375.
The Wolfpack knotted the score twice in the third and final bout, before falling 25-18. The Pack offered a match-best .179 attack percentage along with 11 kills, but the Blue Devils landed 14 kills and a .379 hitting clip to offset the Pack’s comeback attempt. State cut the lead to two late at 20-18, but failed to score again as Duke rattled off five-straight.
NC State will host Virginia Tech and Virginia next weekend.
