Men's Soccer Entertains Hokies on Senior Night

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s soccer team will play its final home game of the season this Saturday night, when the Wolfpack plays host to the Virginia Tech Hokies at 7:00 p.m. at the NC State Soccer Stadium. Before the contest, NC State will honor its three seniors, Stanley Mathurin, Clint Pires, and Daniel Shields.
The game will be broadcasted on ACC Select.
NC State sports a record if 6-8-1 this season, and 1-5 in ACC play. The Pack has won five of its last seven games, outscoring its opponents 22-10 in that span.
The Wolfpack offense is led by a pair of players that have already posted 20 points this season. Junior Ronnie Bouemboue leads NC state with nine goals and 21 points, while classmate Alan Sanchez has seven goals and six assists for 20 points. Another pair of players are close to double figures in points, junior Federico Nachamann and freshman Watt Williams have both posted three goals and three assists this season.
Junior Christopher Widman picked up his fourth shutout of the season in the Pack’s 4-0 win over Longwood Wednesday night. Widman now has 49 saves on the year, and a GAA of 1.65.
The Hokies enter the contest with a record of 5-10-1, including a mark of 0-6 in ACC play. Virginia Tech has been off since last week’s 2-1 defeat at High Point, and have lost their last three contests overall.
Virginia Tech’s offense features a pair of players with six goals apiece this season, James Gilson and Emmanuel Akogyeram. Gilson also leads the squad with four assists and 16 points on the year.
Three different Hokie goalkeepers have all started at least four games on the season. Brendan Dunn started last time out, and posts a GAA of 2.47 this season.
NC State holds an 8-3-1 advantage in the series with Virginia Tech, including a 6-1 margin in games played in Raleigh. Last season, the Hokies won on their home field, 3-0.
The Pack will have one final regular season game before the ACC Tournament, when NC State travels to Duke next Friday night.
