Volleyball Falls To Georgia Tech in Three

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State's volleyball team kept up with Georgia Tech throughout the night, but fell, 3-0, on Friday, Oct. 24. The loss sends the Pack to 9-16 (3-7 ACC), while Georgia Tech improves to 15-5 (7-3 ACC).
Four Pack players had four kills, and Alex Smith led NC State with 13 assists to support NC State's offense. Overall, the Wolfpack made 14 blocks, both Arlee Tamietti and Kelly Wood had serving aces, and Wood also led the team in digs with 12.
Talisa Kellogg led the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills, and Allie Niekamp had 31 assists. Michelle Kandell made a team-high 15 digs, and two players had serving aces in the match.
Georgia Tech started strong and held the lead throughout the first set, using 12 kills and 10 assists to take down the Pack 25-12. The Yellow Jackets had a .154 hitting percentage compared to the Pack's -.106.
NC State took four of the first six scores, but Georgia Tech claimed the lead with seven straight points in the second frame. The Pack battled to stay in the set, scoring three quick points in a row, but the Yellow Jackets won 25-17.
The Pack took the lead to start the third set, and kept it close, trading scores and the lead with the Yellow Jackets throughout the frame. Georgia Tech used a .067 hitting percentage and 10 kills to commandeer the lead away from the Pack. The Pack remained strong but could not close the deal, and Georgia Tech won the set, and the match, 25-18. NC State had six kills, and a -.103 hitting percentage in the final set.
The Pack will next host Clemson tomorrow at 5 p.m. at historic Reynolds Coliseum.
