Women's Soccer Upended at No. 11 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. No. 11 Virginia picked up a 6-0 victory over NC State in ACC women’s soccer action Thursday evening at Klckner Stadium.
Virginia (9-1-1, 3-0-0 ACC) scored two goals late in the first half and then added three more in the first 8:30 of the second half to pull away for the win.
Playing its second nationally-ranked team this week, NC State (8-4, 0-2 ACC) held its own with the home standing Cavaliers until Lauren Alwine and Jess Rostedt struck for a pair of goals in the 39th and 41st minute respectively to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
Meghan Lenczyk began the second half with her ACC-leading ninth goal at 46:39 for a 3-0 advantage. Caitlin Miskie, Kelly Quinn and Amanda Stewart each added a tally later in the match as UVa had six different goal scorers on the evening.
NC State keeper Rachel Barnette made nine saves, while Celeste Miles was credited with one save for the Cavaliers.
The Wolfpack continues its four-game road stretch at Virginia Tech on Sunday in Blacksburg at 1 p.m. The match will be available live on ACCSelect.com.
