Men's Soccer Earns Shutout Win at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. Behind two second-half goals, the NC State men’s soccer team came away with a 2-0 win at Clemson Friday night. After a scoreless first half, the Pack (5-7-2, 1-4 ACC) would find the back of the Tiger’s (4-6-2, 2-3-1 ACC) net two times, and earn the first shutout of an ACC opponent on the road since 2005.
The Wolfpack scored first at the 70:41 mark as Federico Nachmann collected a errant pass and scored his third goal of the season. N.C. State scored again with 4:13 left in the match. Kris Byrd dribbled down the right and fired a shot from eight yards out for his first career score.
NC State dominated on the offensive end, outshooting the Tigers 21-8. Junior Christopher Widman recorded the shutout with four saves.
The Pack will return to action this Saturday night, as NC State will host Maryland at 7:00 p.m. at the NC State Soccer Stadium.
