Men's Soccer Blasts Past Presbyterian, 5-1

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s soccer team defeated visiting Presbyterian, 5-1, Tuesday night at the NC State Soccer Stadium. After a sluggish start, the Wolfpack (4-7-1) would score three goals in just over a 10-minute span towards the end of the first half, and Presbyterian (2-10-1) was forced to play a man down the final 59 minutes due to a red card.
NC State first got on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute. Junior Ronnie Bouemboue was fed a long ball, but was fouled by Presbyterian’s Tommy Rodriguez preventing a breakaway, and Rodriguez was issued a red card. Sophomore Tyler Lassiter took the ensuing free kick, and tucked the ball into the right side of the net at the 31:17 mark for his first score of the season.
The Pack would make it a 2-0 lead just over three minutes later. Lassiter started the play with a long ball into the Presbyterian penalty box that found junior Federico Nachmann on the back post. Nachmann slotted a pass to the top of the box to sophomore Chris Zuerner who neeted his second goal of the season.
Just before the half, junior Alan Sanchez cleaned up a loss ball in the Presbyterian penalty box, and scored at the 42:05 mark.
Presbyterian would strike first in the second half to close the margin. Logan Huff converted a Chris Brophy corner kick for the score in the 52nd minute.
NC State would score twice more on the day. In the 79th minute, Bouemboue netted his team leading seventh score of the year off of assists from Sanchez and freshman Watt Williams. Williams would notch his own score in the 83rd minute, off passes from Kris Byrd and Daniel Fish.
The Wolfpack has now scored 15 goals over the last four games.
NC State held a 15-8 shot advantage, and the Pack’s Christopher Widman finished with three saves.
NC State will return to ACC play this weekend, as the Pack will travel to Clemson for a Friday night contest.
