Volleyball Heads to Wake Forest, Duke

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State volleyball will resume play this weekend with road matches at Wake Forest and Duke. Currently tied for second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Pack will play against the Demon Deacons on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., before battling the Blue Devils on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
State (8-9 / 2-0 ACC) is off to its best start since the 2000 campaign, having won three straight and five of its last seven. Last weekend State downed both Boston College (3-1) and Maryland (3-1) at home.
Aiwane Iboaya, the lone senior on the squad, was tabbed as ACC Player of the Week this past Monday. Her 55 blocks is tops on the team.
Kelly Wood leads the Pack in digs and stands eighth in the league with 237, while Alex Smith’s 499 assists is ninth-best in the conference. With 186 kills, Arlee Tamietti ranks 10th in the ACC.
Wake Forest (11-4 / 2-1 ACC) and Duke (10-5 / 1-2 ACC) played this past Tuesday night in Winston-Salem, with the Demon Deacons coming out on top, 3-2.
Next weekend NC State will host Virginia Tech and Virginia.
