The NC State Women's Soccer team begins the ACC portion of its schedule with a two-game road swing through Florida. The Wolfpack will enter Thursday night's league opener at Miami having gone unbeaten in its last five matches, including back-to-back 1-0 victories last week.
The Wolfpack, who are 2-0-1 on the road this season, are led by 2006 All-ACC second team pick Lindsay Vera with five goals. She is currently tied for sixth in the league with 0.62 goals per game and is tied for second in the ACC with a pair of game winners.
Sophomore keeper Sydney Little has been an anchor in net for the Pack. The Garner, N.C., native is seventh in the ACC with a 0.66 goals against average and is fifth in saves with 3.5 per match.
NC State is 3-0 all-time against the Hurricanes. Last year the Pack came up with a 1-0 victory in Raleigh. In fact, NC State has beaten Miami by that 1-0 score each year since 2004.
Miami (4-2-2), who is unbeaten in its last three games, will enter Thursday's match with the nation's 18th-ranked scoring offense - powered by freshmen Brittney Steinbruch and Lauren Singer.
Steinbruch leads the `Canes with 19 points on nine goals and an assist, and is ranked fifth in the nation with 1.125 goals per game and is ninth with 2.38 points per game. After just eight games as a Hurricane, she is tied for fourth in program history in single-season goals.
Lauren Singer is second on the team with six goals and three assists for 15 points. She is among the NCAA's top 40 with 1.88 points per game and 0.75 goals per game.
The Wolfpack will also visit No. 10 Florida State on Sunday afternoon at noon. The game will be televised on a tape delay basis beginning one hour later at 1 pm on Sun Sports.
