RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State head coach Lisa Navas has announced that the Wolfpack softball program has inked a five-year agreement with athletic apparel giant Under Armour to become the official gear provider for State softball. Entering its fifth season of play this year, the Pack will begin using Under Armour apparel immediately this fall in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
"We are very happy to be announcing this agreement with Under Armour," said Navas. "We gradually began using a lot of their products and eventually recognized that this was the direction that we wanted to take the program in. The team at Under Amour has been tremendous in working with us to this point, and we look forward to continuing to foster a great working relationship with them as they keep growing and improving in the softball field."
The agreement includes the supply of uniforms, jackets, pullovers, weather apparel, thermal clothing, batting gloves, turf shoes, cleats, sunglasses and all practice clothing. This season the Pack will have two new Under Armour uniforms to take the field in; a red and a white. Next season the team is looking to use a pinstripe uniform.
"Under Armour apparel is comfortable and it fits our student-athletes very well," said Navas. "The team is very excited."
Under Armour is endorsed by several top-flight professional athletes, including Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs, Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies, A.J. Hawk of the Green Bay Packers and three-time collegiate softball player of the year, ESPN analyst and current Rockford Thunder hurler Cat Osterman.
The agreement is in addition to the program's pre-existing deals with Schutt Sports and The Game. State is one of just six programs nationally that is sponsored by Schutt Sports, which provides all gloves, bats, bat bags and other game day and practice equipment. The Game is the official supplier of all hats and visors to the team.
