Athletes, Coaches, Families Gather for Unity Picnic

The Unity Picnic an annual rite for members of NC State's athletics department family -- the opportunity to gather with coaches, administrators and student-athletes to kick-off the coming school year.

Thursday night at the RBC Center, they all gathered for a buffet dinner from McCall's Barbecue, a little dancing and some fun in an event organized by the Office of NC State Student-Athlete Development.

Pity the poor gymnasts -- Football practice ended earlier than ususal Thursday afternoon, and Tom O'Brien's players were hovering long before the serving line opened up. There was no shortage of food, but it's never a good thing to be behind the football team at a buffet.
