Men's Golf Tees Off at ACC Championship

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's golf team will tee off on Friday morning in the first round of the 2007 ACC Championship, being held at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point in New London, N.C. The Pack will play the first round today starting at 10:10, then be in second round action on Saturday, and the third and final round will be Sunday. Fans can watch this years championship on ACC Select, and live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
Tha Pack will be led this weekend by the senior duo of Garry Hill and Jerry Richardson. Both will be competing in their fourth straight ACC Championship, all at the same course. As freshmen in 2004, both Hill and Richardson placed in the top-10, each finishing under-par. Richardson also had a top-10 showing as a sophomore, and was 19th last season. The Pack as a team finished fourth last year, bringing home a top-five finish eight of the last nine years.
Sophomore Nathan Spoon will be looking to duplicate the success he had at last years ACC Championship. As a freshman, Spoon was the Pack's top finisher as he shot a 210 for six-under and tied for sixth place.
Sophomores Andrew Byrd and Chase Duncan will each be making thier first trip to the ACC Championship to round out the Pack's starting five.
