RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women’s soccer coach Laura Kerrigan announced the addition of two more high school seniors to enroll at NC State and play for the Wolfpack this fall.
Alex Berger and Ashley Upchurch now make up a strong class of 11 newcomers for NC State.
Berber hails from nearby Cary, N.C., and plays for Cary Academy. She was named all-state, all-region and all-conference last season as a junior.
Upchurch is also a local product from Durham and is a product of Jordan High School.
"Both Ashley and Alex are smart, aggressive players who will be vying for starting jobs in the back for us next season. We are excited that they have decided to join us next season," said Kerrigan.
Berger and Upchurch join nine others that were announced earlier this month, which includes Kara Baldy, Rachel Barnette, Samantha Herrmann, Haley LeClair, Bre Lukasik, Alyson Santilli, Jordan Saylor, Ashley Shoemaker and Kaitlin Wescoe.
"We're excited about our 2007 class,” explained Kerrigan. “We have some tremendous athletes in this class and expect them to make an immediate impact. Combined with the strong returning class we have, we expect 2007 to be a great year."
