Doughtie's even-par round leads Pack at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – Sophomore Lauren Doughtie fired an even-par 72 on Friday and the NC State women’s golf team sits in ninth place with a team total of +20 (308) after day one of the 2007 LSU/Cleveland Classic at the par 72, 6,424-yard layout at The University Club.
Doughtie is tied for sixth overall after notching four birdies on the day, including birdies on holes 17 and 18 that got her back to even-par for the round.
Duke’s Amanda Blumenhurst shot a four-under 68 for the low round of the day. Vanderbilt leads the team title after the Commodores shot a six-over-par 294, while Duke and Tennessee
Freshmen Kathleen Strandberg and Cindel Gwyn, playing in her first collegiate tournament, rounded out the Wolfpack effort with rounds of 80 and 82 respectively.
Day two of the 54-hole tournament continues on Saturday.
