Gymnastics Travels to No. 1 Florida This Weekend

Raleigh, N.C. – The No. 22 NC State gymnastics team will head to Gainsville, Fla., this weekend for a meet against No. 1 Florida. The Wolfpack will be facing its ninth ranked opponent of the season, the fifth top-10 opponent, and the facing a ranked team for the fifth time over the last five meets. The meet will be held at Florida’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
The Gators are off to the best start in school history since 1985, as Florida enters with a 11-0-1 record and a RQS of 197.245 this week. Florida ranks No. 1 nationally on bars, beam and floor, and sixth on vault. The season high score of 197.875 is the second-best score nationally this season.
The Pack is in the top-25 for the second straight week, after nothing the top road score of the season last week at Nebraska, a 194.475. NC State ranks nationally on three of the four events, No. 21 on both vault and bars, and No. 23 on floor.
Junior Leigha Hancock was named EAGL Specialist of the week after her performance at last weeks Master’s Classic. She was the top Pack finisher on all three of her events, and brought home two top-three finishes. Classmates Kelsey Lee and Heather Zolton have both competed in the all-around each of the last three meets, and freshman Taylor Seaman has returned to the all-around after missing time with an ankle sprain.
After the Pack’s trip to Florida, NC State will host home meets on consecutive Fridays, March 9 and 16.
