Massey, Krzeszewski named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Michelle Massey and Tami Krzeszewski were placed on the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women’s Soccer Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Massey and Krzeszewski earned this honor from the league for the second straight year.
A senior defender from Raleigh, Massey was an anchor on the backline that started all 19 games for the Wolfpack in 2006 and did not miss a game in her four-year career.
Krzeszewski, who hails from Erie, Pa., also started all 19 games for the Pack this past fall. The sophomore midfielder finished tied for fourth on the team with five points, after scoring once and dishing out three assists.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Thirteen All-Conference honorees including the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Soccer America’s National Player of the Year, secured spots on the team. All 11 schools in the league competing in women’s soccer are represented on the honors team.
Players earning first team or second team All-ACC honors this past fall are North Carolina’s Yael Averbuch. Heather O’Reilly and Tobin Heath, Wake Forest’s Elizabeth Remy and Kristina Hanley, Florida State’s Katrin Schmidt and Kelly Rowland, Boston College’s Jennifer Maurer, Duke’s Rebecca Moros, Maryland’s Nicole Resnick, Virginia’s Becky Sauerbrunn, and Clemson’s Julie Bolt.
Averbuch, a sophomore midfielder and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, led the league in goals per game (0.60) and finished second in scoring (1.40). O’Reilly, the Honda Award winner and the Soccer America Player of the Year this past fall, led the ACC in scoring (1.70) and tied for third in goals scored (0.50).
