RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State Head Women’s Soccer Coach Laura Kerrigan has announced the 2007 spring women’s soccer schedule.
The five dates of competition, the maximum allowed by the NCAA, will start in mid-March and finish up in late April. The Wolfpack will take on UNC Wilmington, Charlotte, Elon, Navy and South Carolina, as well as play in a multiple-game, 7-a-side tournament hosted by UNC Wilmington.
“For soccer, the spring season is all about player development, and we are looking to push our players to the next level. We’ll have our players play in different positions and different formations throughout the spring in an effort to develop their tactical awareness,” said Kerrigan.
With the graduating seniors moving on, this spring will give the returning players an opportunity to step into more of a leadership role. Kerrigan stated, “Our underclassmen are ready to step up and take the reins. We will be playing a variety of opponents during the spring season, some single games, as well as some multiple game tournaments to give us an opportunity to work on many different facets of our game. This spring is a great time to ‘take our players somewhere new’ in terms of coaching.”
The PACK has been back in action working both on the field and in the weight room in preparation of the upcoming games this spring season. According to Kerrigan, “the training sessions will focus primarily on technical development to continually increase our players’ skill level, and tactical awareness to increase our understanding of the game.” Admission to all home soccer games this spring is free.
