Gymnastics to Host Hearts Invitational on Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The toughest home schedule in school history for the NC State gymnastics team continues this Saturday night, as the Pack will welcome No. 6 Nebraska, No. 24 West Virginia, George Washington and James Madison for the annual Hearts Invitational. The meet will be at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The Pack is currently ranked No. 29 nationally, averaging a 193.246 per meet.
NC State is coming off of a second place finish at North Carolina last weekend, as the Pack scored a 193.975. This marks NC State’s third home meet of the 2007 season, as NC State scored a 194.625 against Georgia, Iowa and Ohio State on Jan. 21 and a 194.600 in the Governor’s Cup on Feb. 2.
Nebraska (7-3) ranks sixth in the country this week, averaging 195.625 per meet. The Huskers have a season-high score of 196.800, and are ranked in the top-6 as a team on three of the four events.
West Virginia (10-5) currently leads the EAGL conference with an average score of 193.705, and is ranked 24th nationally. The Mountaineers lead the EAGL on both vault and floor this season.
George Washington is 8-5 on the season and ranked No. 42 nationally with an average score of 191.090 thus far. James Madison is 1-5 on the season, and No. 67 with its average of 183.237.
The Pack has already faced the remaining two teams in this meet, as both George Washington and James Madison competed at North Carolina last weekend. While NC State scored a 193.975 for second place in the meet, George Washington was third with a 190.975 and James Madison was fourth with a 183.150.
