Eugene Wins Governor's Award

RALEIGH, N.C. - Redshirt sophomore tailback Jamelle Eugene has been named the 2007 recipient of the Governor’s Award, which is given to the member of the football squad who is the most valuable player based on ability, contribution, leadership, and intangibles.” Eugene played a major role in the Wolfpack’s four-game winning streak over the second half of the season, gaining 800 all-purpose yards in the last seven games. He is the first sophomore to win the award since it was established in 1960.
O’Brien recently cited Eugene’s work ethic and practice habits as big factors behind the Wolfpack’s second-half improvement in 2007.
