RALEIGH, N.C. NC State head volleyball coach Charita J. Stubbs and her staff announced the signing of two student-athletes to the Wolfpack program on Monday, Dec. 10. Isis Gardner and Caelen Hiller, both of which have enjoyed successful high school and prep careers, will arrive in Raleigh in time for the 2008 season next fall. Gardner and Hiller, both outside hitters, are expected to contribute immediately.
A 6-2 native of Killeen, Texas, Gardner attends Ellison High School and competes with the TCA Texas volleyball club. Sporting height and athleticism, she will become a force in the Wolfpack’s offensive attack.
“I am excited to have someone of Isis' athleticism coming into our program,” said Stubbs. “While she has only had one year as a true outside hitter, she will come in and provide some depth to that position. I am definitely excited about what she will have to offer.”
Hiller, hailing from Phoenix, Ariz., helped lead Sunnyslope High School to a second-place finish at the state championship this year. She competes with the Arizona Juniors volleyball club. Hiller posted 388 kills this year for Sunnyslope, while sprinkling in 38 aces. She stands at 5-10.
“I am thrilled to have an Arizona connection joining our family here,” said Stubbs. “Caelen's experience will be greatly appreciated as she is a passing outside hitter. She will add more knowledge to our growing team.
