Hokies Down Volleyball On Senior Night, 3-0

RALEIGH, N.C. Virginia Tech topped NC State, 3-0 (30-20, 30-26, 30-19), on an emotional senior night at historic Reynolds Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 9 in Raleigh. All three seniors made contributions for State as Ashley Wallace led the team in kills (11) and blocks (4), Kasey Rhyne added a service ace, and Andi Bentley recorded eight digs, moving into sole possession of ninth-place all-time in school history for digs.
Bentley now has 1,120 digs for her career with four contests left to play.
The loss sends the Pack to 3-25 (0-18 ACC) on the year, while the Hokies improve to 13-14 (7-10 ACC).
Chrissy Zirpolo and Lauren Zaniboni each drilled eight kills, and Alex Smith lifted 22 assists. Lindsay Benac had nine digs, and four Wolfpackers recorded service aces.
Sarah Munoz put up a team-best 10 kills for VT, and Michelle Lang notched 31 assists. Munoz (12), Taylor Parrish (11) and Amanda Cloyd (11) combined for 34 of the Hokies 47 digs. Parrish also landed three aces.
In all, the red and white was out-hit .259 to .041.
NC State’s final four matches of the season will all take place on the road. The Pack returns to action next Friday, Nov. 16 in Winston-Salem against Wake Forest at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 17, State will take on Duke in Durham at 7 p.m.
