NC State gymnastics, the 2007 EAGL Conference Champions, has announced the signing of four gymnasts for the 2009 season. Rebecca Teich, Jessica Panza, Brooke Barr and Anna Kronefeild comprise the strong recruiting class for head coach Mark Stevenson, the 2007 EAGL Coach of the Year.
Teich, from Charlotte, N.C., is a level 10 gymnast who competed with Southeastern Gymnastics. She tied for 19th at the 2007 Junior National Championships with an all-around score of 37.100. A seasoned competitor, Teich comes from one of the top gyms in North Carolina with an outstanding prep coaching staff.
Panza hails from New York, N.Y. and finished 44th in the all-around at the 2007 Junior National Championships. She is a complete gymnast with talent on all of the events, in particular the balance beam. Panza competed with Phoenix Gymnastics in New York.
Barr, from Harrisburg, Pa., is possibly the most gifted athlete of the bunch. As a member of Artistic Gymnastics, she showed tremendous raw power and athleticism throughout her prep career and should be one of the Wolfpack's best performers on the floor and vault right away.
Kronefeild is the second North Carolinian in the class. A native of High Point, the Wolfpack staff will look for her to contribute immediately on beam, bars and floor. She showed tremendous potential in those events during her time with High Point Gymnastics.
NOTES: The NC State gymnastics and wrestling teams will co-host the Beauty and the Beast meet on Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m. Both teams will showcase its athletes in a joint Red and White intrasquad format. Promotions and giveaways will be available and admission is FREE. Check back to www.GoPack.com for more information on the event.
