TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - NC State volleyball fell in three games to Florida State on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Tully Gymnasium on the FSU campus. The loss puts the Pack at 3-28 (0-21 ACC) on the year, while the Seminoles climb to 15-14 (12-9 ACC).
Lauren Zaniboni offered a team-best 11 kills, while Alex Smith lifted 23 assists. Ashley Wallace led the team in both service aces (3) and total blocks (3), and Andi Bentley and Nikki Sweet both recorded nine digs apiece.
Mira Djuric (12) and Makini Thompson (10) combined for 22 of FSU's 50 total kills. Nikki Baker offered 43 assists, and Summer Weissing posted 14 digs.
Florida State jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead in the first stanza, clearing a path to its 30-18 decision. State pulled to within five points at 15-10, but a six-point rally, coupled with multiple back-to-back scores by the 'Noles squashed any comeback attempt.
The Pack found itself down 18-10 midway through play in the second game, but managed to claw back to within four points at 22-18. FSU, however, only allowed three more NC State scores from that point forward, winning 30-21.
The Wolfpack put up a match-high 11 kills in the third game, playing well despite dropping the frame 30-22. The Seminoles cruised to an early 17-10 advantage, putting State in a hole that it didn't have enough time to dig out of.
NC State will play its last match of the season this Friday, Nov. 23, against the Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables, Fla. First serve is set for 1 p.m. The contest will mark the last time that seniors Bentley, Wallace and Kasey Rhyne don a red and white uniform.
