Volleyball to Face Wake Forest, Duke

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State volleyball will return to action this weekend against Wake Forest and Duke. The Pack will take on the Demon Deacons on Friday, Nov. 16, in Winston-Salem, before heading to Durham to face the Blue Devils on Saturday, Nov. 17. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.

The Wolfpack enters the road trip with a 3-25 (0-18 ACC) record. Seniors Andi Bentley and Ashley Wallace offered strong showings the last time State took to the floor, with Bentley recording eight digs and an ace, while Wallace added 11 kills, four blocks and four digs against Virginia Tech. Wallace’s 88 blocks marks a team-best, while Chrissy Zirpolo leads the team in service aces with 21.
Youth has played a heavy factor for the red and white this season, with freshmen leading in several statistical categories. Alex Smith is first on the roster in assists with 769, Lauren Zaniboni leads the team in kills with 304, and Lindsay Benac boasts a team-high dig total with 191.
Wake Forest (7-21, 4-15 ACC) has dropped 12-straight contests after falling in five games to North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Natalie Mullikin ranks in the top-10 of the conference in points, hitting percentage, kills and blocks. Kelsey Jones is ranked in the ACC top-10 for assists, while Lauren McIntyre (blocks) and Megan Thornberry (digs) hold similar league standings.
Duke (20-6, 15-3 ACC), which will host North Carolina on Friday before facing NC State, was shocked on the road last week, dropping contests at both Clemson and Georgia Tech. Ali Hausfeld has recorded 1,398 assists this season, breaking the Blue Devil’s all-time assist record. Carrie Mange leads the squad in kills with 499, Jenny Shull has 538 digs, Rachel Moss carries 39 service aces and Jourdan Norman leads in blocks with 134.
NC State will close out its season next weekend in Florida, taking on Florida State and Miami.
