Volleyball Set for Two Weekend Home Matches

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State volleyball team will host Maryland and Boston College this weekend at historic Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus. The Pack will take on the Terrapins on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m., before welcoming the Eagles at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.

The Wolfpack (3-21, 0-14 ACC) has enjoyed valuable contributions from several younger players; freshmen student-athletes lead the team statistically in kills (Lauren Zaniboni - 265), assists (Alex Smith 652) and digs (Nikki Sweet 244). Smith currently stands ninth in the ACC for assists per game. Sophomore Chrissy Zirpolo ranks first on the team in service aces with 18, while placing second in kills with 175. Senior Ashley Wallace’s 74 blocks is also a team-best.
Maryland stands at 14-9 (6-8 ACC) on the year after winning four of its last seven bouts. Three Terrapins (Beth Gillming 281, Jade Brown 235, Mary Beth Brown 209) boasts 200+ kills, while Katie Usher (164) approaches that plateau. Hayley Hanson has 548 assists and 20 service aces under her belt, and Gillming (331) and Maggie Schmelzle (313) combine for 644 total digs. Brown leads the team in blocks with 118.
Boston College (11-13, 5-9 ACC) has dropped four of its last five matches. Kelsey Johnson posts team-highs with 372 kills and 34 service aces, and Brittany Pierpont has 611 assists. Cathy Quilico has amassed 345 digs, and Abigail Hasebroock has 97 total blocks.
NC State will host its final two home matches of the season next week, challenging both Virginia and Virginia Tech. State will face the Cavaliers on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., before squaring off with the Hokies on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
