Volleyball, Tar Heels to Clash Tonight in Chapel Hill

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State and archrival North Carolina will meet again tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Chapel Hill. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live online via ACC Select. Click here for more information.
NC State carries a 3-20 (0-13 ACC) slate on the season. Alex Smith ranks ninth in the league, and first on the team roster, with 8.25 assists per game. Lauren Zaniboni fronts the Pack’s offense with 259 kills, while Chrissy Zirpolo stands second with 169. Zirpolo and Nikki Sweet both hold 17 service aces, a team-high, and Sweet’s 237 digs also mark a team-best. Ashley Wallace’s 70 total blocks are tops on the squad.
After falling twice this past weekend at Clemson and Georgia Tech, UNC holds a 9-13 (5-8 ACC) record. The Tar Heels have lost four of its last five matches, the lone win coming in a shutout of Miami in Chapel Hill on Oct. 20. Lauren Prussing leads North Carolina in kills with 219, and Stephanie Jansma boasts 979 assists. Brianna Eskola carries 496 digs, Heather Brooks has 109 total blocks, and the team has amassed 98 total service aces.
This weekend State will host both Maryland and Boston College at historic Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus. The Pack will take on the Terrapins on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.
