Pope Earns ACC Accolade

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State’s Mitchell Pope was named Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week after automatically qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in the shot put this past weekend.
Breaking a school record that stood since 1977, Pope finished first at the UNC Fast Times meet on Saturday. The Hudson, North Carolina, native qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship with a shot put throw of 63’10.25”. That heave is currently the second-best mark in the NCAA this season.
He also finished third in the weight throw with a throw of 59’07”.
