Gymnastics Completes Second Meet of Weekend

Raleigh, N.C. – Competing for the second time in as many days, the No. 24 NC State gymnastics team scored a 192.625 at Penn State on Saturday night. No. 19 Penn State notched a team score of 193.850.
The Wolfpack started the meet on bars, and recorded its top team score of the evening, a 48.375. Senior Amanda Jones led the way for the Pack, notching a team score of 9.825 and tying for second place. Freshman Taylor Seaman finished with a 9.775, and junior Kelsey Lee was close behind with a 9.75.
NC State then went over to vault, but had its lowest score of the night a 47.775. Seaman won her first career event title, notching a 9.75. Lee and fellow junior Heather Zolton each had a 9.65.
Over on floor, Seaman once again led the Pack. She scored a 9.85 for a second place showing. Lee was fifth with a 9.75, while Zolton and sophomore Ashley Shepard each had a 9.7.
The meet concluded for NC State on beam. Zolton had the Pack’s top score, a 9.75 to tie for second place. Jones was close behind with a 9.725, while junior Leigha Hancock and freshman Lauren Deuser each had a 9.7.
NC State will return to home action next weekend. The Wolfpack will host North Carolina, Maryland and Towson in the Governor’s Cup Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
