Track Competes at Clemson Invite

Raleigh, N.C. – The NC State track and field teams were in action this weekend at the Clemson Invitational. The Wolfpack sent its sprinters, throwers and jumpers to compete in the second meet of the outdoor season.
On the women’s side, DeMircle Washington had the Pack’s top finish, as she took fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 39’08” She also jumped 17’06.25”. Mattie Bethea posted the top marks in both the high jump (5’05”) and in the long jump (18’01.50”).
Joya Rodgers finished ninth in the 60 meters with her time of 7.71. Gabrielle Daniel had the top times for the women in both the 200 meters (26.34) and in the 400 meters (1:01.71). Marilynn Angell led the Pack in the 800 meters, running a 2:28.53.
For the second straight week, Mitchell Pope brought home a first place finish in the throws along with a NCAA provisional mark. Pope won the shot put, with a toss of 62’03.25”. Chris Crawford placed fifth in the shot put (53’00.75”) and Jason Jones was sixth (48’07.50”). Crawford was also fourth in the weight throw, with a mark of 60’05.75”. Kent Dickens was 11th in the weight throw (44’10.25”), while Jones was 12th (44’08.75”).
Dexter Adams finished second in the long jump, with a top mark of 24’03.50”. Also in that event, Michael Hill jumped 21’00.50”, and Eric Davis 20’06.25”. In the high jump, Hill was sixth clearing 6’06”, and Davis placed seventh (6’04”).
