Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team will return to the court this weekend, Friday, Sept. 7, through Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Kent State University Invitational in Kent, Ohio. The Pack will take on Chicago State, Murray State and Kent State over the course of the two-day competition. The tournament will mark the Pack's final round of competition before Atlantic Coast Conference play begins.
NC State will take on the Chicago State Cougars on Friday at 5 p.m. in its first match at the event. The Pack will wrap up play on Saturday with two matches, challenging the Murray State Racers at 12:30 p.m., before battling the Kent State Golden Flashes at 7:30 p.m.
The red and white enter the weekend journey with a 1-5 record after taking down UT-Chattanooga at the Wolfpack Classic last weekend. Freshman setter Allison Davis was named to the Wolfpack Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance over the course of the two-day affair.
Murray State, coached by David Schwepker, holds a 2-1 record after beating Idaho State and Appalachian State last weekend at the North Florida Labor Day Classic. The Ohio Valley Conference squad fell to the Wolfpack (3-0) at the 1996 Charlotte Best Western Invitational, which stands as the only previous meeting between the two programs.
Head coach Mora Kanim leads tournament host Kent State, a member of the Mid-American Conference. The Golden Flashes stand at 2-4 on the season after dropping three matches last weekend at the UWGB/AmeriHost Inn Classic in Green Bay, Wis. NC State has lost all three of its previous matches to Kent State.
