Blue Devils Pass By Wolfpack, 3-0

Raleigh, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team fell to neighboring Duke University, 3-0, on Wednesday, Sept 27, at Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus. Aiwane Iboaya hit .429, while Keshia Raibon added nine kills. Duke outhit NC State .366 to .073 across three games. With the loss, the Pack drops to 2-11 (0-4 ACC) on the season, while the Blue Devils climb to 10-2 (3-0 ACC).
Duke started off hot in the first game, quickly posting a 14-4 lead before NC State grabbed three consecutive points to ease the score. Following the Pack’s mini-run, the Blue Devils took 16 of the next 22 points to take the 1-0 match advantage, 30-13. The red and white committed 10 errors to Duke’s zero.
The Wolfpack grabbed the first point of the second game and took a 5-6 lead off of a Ali Hausefeld error early in the match. The Blue Devils quickly responded and regained the lead, while the match remained close. Following two straight points by the Pack to cut the Duke lead to 11-10, the Blue Devils reeled off six-straight points to swing momentum into its favor. Duke secured the 30-19 win on a Tealle Hunkus service ace.
NC State cut its errors to seven in the second frame, while the Blue Devils amassed six.
Both teams traded blows in the beginning of the third and final game until Duke went on a seven-point run to take a 20-11 lead. Down 24-13, the Pack made a valiant effort at a comeback, collecting six consecutive points. The joy would be, however, short lived, as the Blue Devils collected itself and closed the chapter of the meeting, 30-20.
NC State returns to this court this Saturday, Sept. 30, with a match against ACC-foe Wake Forest. The Pack and Demon Deacons will square off at 6 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus.
