Among the many things going on in Fan Zone Saturday for NC State’s football game against Boston College Saturday night is an autograph session by the Wolfpack women’s soccer team, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
Coach Laura Kerrigan’s team (6-1-2 overall, 1-0 ACC) is coming off a dramatic 1-0 shutout against Miami on Thursday and is preparing for Sunday’s noon game against top-ranked Florida State at Method Road Soccer Stadium. That’s the lead-off game in a soccer double-header, with the Wolfpack men hosting top-ranked Clemson in the second game.
"We love playing double-headers with the men's teams," Kerrigan says. "We think it creates a great deal of excitement for the fans and for the teams."
Also in Fan Zone, ESPN will have an interactive college football display in its two traveling big rigs. One rig is a viewing trailer where fans can watch football games in progress. The other features a deejay, interactive video games and a play-by-play booth where fans can record their own call of a video clip.
The NC State Dance Team will be handing out Orange Bowl coozies and selling the Wolfpatch, which entitles patrons discounts at various locations around Raleigh.
Finally, the Wolfpack women's basketball team will be handing out flyers about its challenge with Georgia Tech, in which both teams will be collecting pink lids from Yoplait yogurt. Fans can bring the pink lids from Yoplait yogurt cups to the Oct. 5 game against Florida State in the "Save Lids to Save Lives," a promotion that will benefit breast cancer research.
Finally, on the other side of the stadium, the Walk of Champions has been moved back to its original location in front of the Murphy Center. The walk, which features the team, the cheerleaders and the marching band, will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m.
