Volleyball Travels to Hokies, Cavaliers

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State volleyball will continue Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play this weekend, hitting the road to take on Virginia Tech and Virginia. The Pack will challenge the Hokies on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va., before battling the Cavaliers on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium in Charlottesville. The red and white take to the road with a 2-8 (0-1 ACC) record on the season.
Keshia Raibon leads the Pack with 2.97 kills per game followed closely by Chrissy Zirpolo with a 2.76 average. Allison Davis averages 9.67 assists per game, while Kelley Blakewood leads the team in digs with 2.45 per contest. Blakewood also leads the squad with 14 total service aces.
Virginia Tech stands at 7-3 (1-0 ACC) on the season. Sarah Munoz leads the Hokies with 3.37 kills and 3.03 digs per game. Amanda Cloyd averages .26 service aces per game followed closely by Michelle Lang with .24. In addition, Lang averages 11.26 assists per game, fifth highest in the ACC.
UVa enters the weekend with a 7-3 (0-1 ACC) record after falling to the Hokies in league play. Entering the weekend, Sarah Kirkwood leads the ACC with 4.33 kills per game and .83 service aces per contest. Her older sister, Emily Kirkwood, also leads the ACC with 13.12 assists per game. Katie Oakes ranks first in league play with 1.70 blocks per game.
