Andi's Anecdotes: Getting Ready for the ACC

Raleigh, N.C. - With preseason behind us, we're ready to dive right into ACC conference play. These last few weekends have been a growing experience for us; chances for us to learn and trust our teammates. Specifically this weekend, we took a huge step forward. We were able to sit down after a match and be completely honest with one another, held each other accountable. Although we only won one match this weekend, we showed we are competitive and are coming together as a team.
One morning we shared a team jog and ended up in a circle sharing what we were going to bring to the table. For example, I said I was going to bring my A+ game and intensity. Other examples include bringing positive encouragement, focus, fans, and confidence. Before our last match against Kent State, we each made a promise to a certain member of the team of what we would pledge to do that match.
Congratulations to Aiwane Iboaya who was named to the all-tournament team this past weekend. We had a fun weekend with lots of food and many family fans, including Coach Rita’s huge family!
What better way to start off conference play than against our big rivals at North Carolina. Our first ACC conference match is this Friday night, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. in Chapel Hill. We are also holding a free volleyball clinic this Saturday, Sept. 16, to help better the volleyball in this area. Our first home match is Sept. 27 against Duke. I hope you guys will be there cheering us on!
