Men's Soccer Downed by #24/18 South Florida

Durham, N.C. - The NC State men’s soccer team fell to No. 24/18 South Florida by a count of 2-0 in the first game of the weekend at the Duke/adidas Classic being held in Durham, N.C. this weekend. After the two teams battled through a scoreless first 75 minutes of play, it was the Bulls (2-1) two late second half goals that defeated the Wolfpack (1-2). NC State returns to action this Sunday afternoon, playing American at 5:00 p.m. also at the Duke/adidas Classic.
The two teams played an even first half, each notching a couple of scoring opportunities. NC State’s Ernesto DiLaudo had two rockets for the Pack in the first half. His first came just nine minutes in, and skipped along the wet grass causing trouble for the USF keeper. DiLaudo’s second crack at goal was five minutes before halftime, as he fired a shot 30 yards out only to be saved. NC State outshot the Bulls 7-6 in the first 45 minutes of action.
NC State started the second half strong as well, notching two more quality chances. Junior El Hadj Cisse’s shot 12 minutes in just missed the lower right hand corner of the goal, and freshman Alan Sanchez fired just wide as well at the 60 minute mark.
South Florida finally broke the scoreless tie in the 76th minute. Hunter West took the ball on the right wing and dribbled into the middle of the field and eventually into the Pack’s penalty box. West then tucked a shot into the right corner of the net. The Bulls would add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute, when Rodrigo Hidalgo found Jordan Seabrook on a breakaway.
NC State returns to action on Sunday, playing American at 5:00 p.m. at Duke.
