Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Davidson, 3-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team lost its season opener to Davidson, 3-0, on Friday, Aug. 25, in Charlotte, N.C., at the Spring Hill Suites Classic. Sophomore Keisha Raibon posted 11 kills, while freshman Janay Yancey added six kills and a .625 hitting percentage to lead the red and white.
The Wolfpack lost the first game 30-21, before falling 30-23 in the second and 30-25 in the third to end play.
"We did see signs of great play for extended periods of time,” said head coach Charita J. Stubbs, who marked her debut with the Pack in the loss. “We need to continue to work on putting everything together.”NC State was originally scheduled to take on The Citadel in a 4:30 p.m. match that was cancelled. The Pack will hit the floor twice on Saturday, Aug. 26, challenging East Tennessee State at 1 p.m., before facing off against Charlotte at 7 p.m, in the final day of the tournament.
“We are going to have to fight with everything we have tomorrow against two tough opponents,” said Stubbs. “Nobody is going to hand anything to us. We have to play hard and earn it.”
